Kim YooYeon is the S5 member of the 24-member girl group tripleS. Born in February 2001, she is the oldest among all 24 members, earning her the title of "mad-eonni" (oldest sister) within the team. After narrowly missing the debut lineup on MBC's My Teenage Girl with an 8th-place finish, she was revealed as a member of tripleS in 2022. Since then, she has promoted across multiple sub-units, starting from the inaugural Acid Angel from Asia to her current unit, sun.

Kim YooYeon first stepped into the public spotlight on the MBC audition show My Teenage Girl. Competing as a 4th-grade trainee, she survived all the way to the final episode in February 2022, finishing in 8th place—just shy of the debut lineup.
On July 11 of that year, tripleS unveiled her as their fifth member. tripleS assigns numbers to members as they are introduced one by one, determining sub-unit lineups through a fan-voting system known as "Gravity." In the inaugural vote, Kim YooYeon was chosen alongside Kim NaKyoung, Jeong HyeRin, and Gong YuBin to form the group's first sub-unit, Acid Angel from Asia (AAA).
AAA dropped their debut album ACCESS on October 28, 2022, at 6 PM, featuring the title track "Generation." The following year, on February 13, the group officially launched its full 10-member lineup with ASSEMBLE—and its lead single "Rising" was similarly chosen by fans, garnering around 57,000 votes.
tripleS continuously forms fresh unit combinations with every release. Looking just at the units featuring Kim YooYeon reveals an impressive lineup:
| Period | Unit | Key Track · Album | Lineup |
|---|---|---|---|
| Oct 2022 | Acid Angel from Asia | 'Generation' / ACCESS | 4 members |
| Oct 2023 | EVOLution | 'Invincible' / ⟡(MUJUK) | 8 members |
| Oct 2024 | Visionary Vision (VV) | 'Hit The Floor' / Performante | 12 members, Leader Jeong HyeRin |
| Nov 2024 | Hatchi! | 'Untitled' | 8 members, Japan promo unit |
| Sep 2025 | Alphie | World Tour 〈Alpha Percent〉 | 8 members, tour unit |
| Nov 2025–present | sun (msnz) | 'Bubble Gum Girl' / Beyond Beauty | 6 members |
EVOLution's "Invincible," produced by G-high, is a high-tech dance track that sings of an inner self that remains unbreakable like a diamond through any trial. VV's "Hit The Floor" blends a heavy hip-hop beat with boom bap and high-tech dance. Making good on showcase headlines that boldly declared they would "shatter the conventional 'girl group' mold," the team deliberately stepped away from typical female idol concepts.
Alphie was an eight-member unit formed specifically for the world tour 〈Alpha Percent〉, which kicked off in North America in September 2025. Kim YooYeon performed alongside Kotone, Nien, Lynn, Jeong HaYeon, Park ShiOn, Kim ChaeWon, and JiYeon.
Currently, Kim YooYeon is active in the unit sun. On November 24, 2025, tripleS released their mini-album Beyond Beauty, introducing four units at once—moon, sun, neptune, and zenith (collectively known as msnz). The sun lineup features Xinyu, Kim YooYeon, Mayu, Kim ChaeWon, Kim ChaeYeon, and Jeong HyeRin. The lead single "Bubble Gum Girl" sets a bubbly topline over the glossy "Frutiger Aero" aesthetic that was popular from the 2000s through the early 2010s.
At EVOLution's debut showcase in 2023, Kim YooYeon explained the fan-voted unit formation system:
"No member gets left out without being chosen by fans. Through the 'Dimension' system, every member gets the opportunity to participate in promotions."
A year later at the VV showcase, she remarked, "Even though we are half the full group, having 12 members generates an even stronger synergy," naming 'boyish,' 'high-tech dance,' and 'level up' as key concepts for the release. She also described herself as someone in the group whose "apologies come out in just one second." At the same showcase, Park SoHyun added, "Because our oldest sister YooYeon speaks up honestly when something goes wrong, the younger and middle members feel comfortable speaking their minds as well."
Because all 24 members move across the stage simultaneously, you'll naturally find yourself seeking out individual member fancams to follow any single person's choreography.
Following Seoul, the tour headed to Macau on October 24 and Tokyo's Kanadevia Hall (formerly TOKYO DOME CITY HALL) on October 31. The Tokyo stop included two shows (afternoon and evening), billed as the group's first 24-member concert in Japan in one year and three months since July 2025. The North American leg stops in Toronto on November 11, New York on November 15, Chicago on November 18, Fort Worth on November 21, Los Angeles on November 24, and Vancouver on November 26. Some overseas outlets report the dates for New York, Los Angeles, and Vancouver a day or two off, so it is safest to cross-reference local ticketing notices. The final chapter of the series, LOVE&POP pt.3, is slated for release in January 2027 as their first Japanese studio album.
Born on February 9, 2001, she is 25 years old as of November 2026. She is the oldest among the 24 members of tripleS.
tripleS assigns numbers in the order members are officially revealed. Kim Yooyeon was the fifth member to be introduced, on July 11, 2022.
